15-year-old boy’s childhood dream a reality after spending day at Essex Police base in Chelmsford

The family of a 15-year-old boy thanked three of our officers who made his dreams come true when they organised an action packed afternoon for him at the Essex Police bases in Chelmsford.

Earlier this year, PC Ashleigh Watkinson from our Operational Support Group (OSG) and a colleague were taking a break in Bishop’s Stortford when they got chatting to a 15-year-old boy called Ollie.

Ollie is quite possibly the biggest fan of the Police Interceptors show and the officers spent the rest of their break with him talking about the ins and outs of their job.

Before heading back out on patrol, Ashleigh asked Ollie if he wanted to spend an afternoon at their base in Boreham to learn more.

Ashleigh arranged for Ollie to come to our police base in Boreham on August 27 with his friend Tom, his mum Allison and his carer Joanna where an action packed afternoon was in store.

The group were joined by fellow OSG officer PC Rob Sansom and Dog Handler PC Adam Bowden who brought along his canine colleagues, PD Sirus and one of our police puppies, Denzel.

The boys spent the afternoon flying one of our police drones, checking out the different vehicles in our fleet and watching our police dogs in action.
