Essex Police dogs and handlers scoop awards at Regional Trials

Essex Police were celebtrating after two of their handlers competed in the Eastern Regional Police Dog trials at Bedfordshire Police Headquarters and came home with crowns for the overall winner and the best overall team.

Pc Graham Nuth and Pc Luke Pitchford along with Police Dogs Cesar and Tex from our Dog Section have spent the past two days at Bedfordshire Police Headquarters representing Essex at the Eastern Regional Dog Trials, after coming top in the Essex Police Dog Trials.

Graham, who is currently our Dog Handler of the Year, and German Shepherd Cesar were crowned as the overall winners after proving they were worth their salt. They will bring home the ‘Essex Cup’ which is the second consecutive win for our dog section.

The pair also won the trophies for Best Man Work, which saw them detaining a suspect.

Graham and Cesar will soon represent the Eastern Region in the National Police Dog Trials which will be hosted by Avon and Somerset Police in May.

Inspector Brad Dickel said: “This is an outstanding achievement for our Dog Section. Graham and Cesar will now represent Essex at the National Police Dog Trials in Avon and Somerset in May, where we wish them both the very best of luck in their quest for National glory!”
