November 20th marked Transgender Day of Remembrance. In support of the day, Essex Police were flying the transgender awareness flag at Essex Police Headquarters.
Transgender Day of Remembrance is a day to remember those who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice.
It aims to raise awareness and for us to show our support for the transgender community. It aims to address transphobia, by spreading knowledge of the transgender community. Essex boasts a highly diverse culture and we are committed to supporting our communities equally. We will not tolerate any incidents of Hate Crime in our communities.
Sgt Gina Denham, Chief Constable Stephen Kavanagh and members of the transgender community gathered at Essex Police Headquarters to raise the transgender flag.
