Hailing from the musically rich country of Haiti, Evelor is molded to be a true citizen of the world from an early age. Essex Star held a chat with the talented and beautiful artist to find out all the latest!
1. Tell our readers who is Evelor ?
First I’d like to say “Muchas Gracias! Thank you!” to you, Essex Star, for sharing my story with your awesome readers. I’m Evelor Savior. I’m an orphan who overcame suicidal depression and now I’m using my life’s story and my music to uplift people and hopefully help transform the world, one less suicide at a time.
2. What was the inspiration behind Spoon in My Cup ?
Brandon Finale, the Music Producer, and I were working on a deal for a Yogurt commercial so originally we created the song for that. Then the deal didn’t go through and we didn’t want to let the song go because we thought it was a really fun song. So we tweaked the lyrics a little to make it more like a sensual jamming type song and we released it.
3. What challenges do you face in the music industry?
What I experienced in the past was some people I thought were professionals were just hoping to have a relationship with me instead of focusing on my art and the purpose behind it. I wasn’t having it so it was disappointing. Now things are different, thank God! I’m networking with more and more people who are about the business and have the ability to help me go to the next major level faster.
4. Being originally from Haiti does this impact your craft in any way ?
Of course! I’m very multi-cultural with my musical flow. I’m mixed; French on my Dad’s side and Haitian-Latina on my Mom’s side. I describe my music genre as Electronic-Pop with a Latin twist. My main objective is to connect to a large global audience because I really want everyone to feel loved and included in my art.
5. What plans do you have for the future ?
Mmmm….to eat yummy Mexican nachos and dance with my friends until 4am, lol. On a serious note though, I’m looking to release my debut EP in the very near future. I have a few big projects I’m working on with my team and I’m also writing my 4th book about self-growth. So stay tuned lol. Thank you again for interviewing me and I’d like to share with you one of my favorite quotes from Alicia Keys: “And the day came when the risk it took to remain tight and closed in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to bloom. This is the element of freedom”
