Leader of Harlow Council quits in shock move

Councillor Jon Clempner,  the Leader of Harlow Council has quit as both the leader of the council and a Councillor today – sending shock-waves across the local political spectrum.

 Brian Keane, Harlow Council’s Acting Managing Director confirmed in a statement

“Councillor Jon Clempner has this morning informed me that he has resigned as both the Leader of Harlow Council and a Councillor with immediate effect. I would like to place on record my thanks to Jon for his service to both this Council and to Harlow while he has been the Leader and a Councillor.”

Jon was elected Labour councillor for the Little Parndon & Hare Street ward in May 2012. He was re-elected as a Labour councillor for this ward in May 2016. He was appointed Leader of Harlow Council in June 2014.
