The proposed route and date for this year’s Harlow Carnival has been unveiled.
The carnival will take place on Sunday 26 August 2018, setting off from Bush Fair Shopping Centre at midday and ending in the Town Park showground at around 2pm. This will all be in time for the popular Linkfest music event, which this year will take place on the Showground and Bandstand.
The street carnival, which was a regular popular event in the town in the past, returned last year as part of the Harlow is 70 celebrations. Bringing back the carnival proved to be a huge success, with over 600 taking part and around 5,000 people lining the streets.
The Council hopes to build on last year’s event and make it bigger and better. This year the route will be extended and it is hoped that more groups and organisations will take part.
It is proposed that the carnival procession will start from Bush Fair which is the same starting point as past Harlow carnivals. The procession will make it way down Tillwicks Road to Howard Way, past the Stow where it will go down First Avenue and turning into Fifth Avenue before making its way into the Town Park.
For the safety of those taking part and watching, there will be a number of road closures in place during the carnival.
