The people of Essex are being urged to rethink their recycling habits

The people of Essex are being urged to rethink their recycling habits during national Recycle Week 2017 after new research revealed almost half are not recycling aerosols.

Recycle Now research found 49% of people do not always recycle their aerosols, but if everyone in Essex recycled one extra can it would be enough to power a primary school for 572 days.
Cllr Simon Walsh, Cabinet Member for Environment and Waste, said: “Recycle Week 2017 is a great opportunity for us to thank the people of Essex for all the effort they go to.
“It’s also a great time for us to rethink our routines and check we’re doing everything we can to stop recyclable items going to landfill.
“So we’ve produced some top tips and busted some recycling myths to reduce confusion about how and what to recycle all around the home.”
Almost 90% of packaging is recycled in our kitchens, while just over half (52%) of items are recycled in the bathroom.
