Recycle your real Christmas tree this year

Residents in the Borough of Basildon have been asked to recycle their real Christmas trees, free of charge, alongside normal food and garden waste collections.

You can leave your tree outside with the green bins on your collection day from Thursday 2 January 2020.

Before putting your tree outside for collection, ensure that you remove all decorations from it and anything that is not natural such as plastic stands and baubles.

Cllr David Harrison, Chairman of the Neighbourhood and Public Spaces Committee said: “This time of year is the perfect time to help the environment. As much as we’re using a lot of materials, we can recycle just as much.

“Apart from giving gifts this year, you could go even further and help the environment by recycling your real Christmas tree.”
