Southen student secures place at prestigious academy

A South Essex College student has secured a place at one of the most prestigious drama schools in the country.

Edward Aspinall, who studies Production Arts (Technical) at the College’s Thurrock Campus, has been accepted to study a Foundation Degree in Technical Theatre and Stage Management at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London.

Notable academy alumni include Richard Attenborough, Anthony Hopkins, and Alan Rickman.

The 18-year-old from Burnham will spend the first year of the course enhancing his skills in all areas of production before concentrating on his chosen specialism alongside a work placement in the second year.

Edward said he was thrilled to have secured a place on the course.

He said: “RADA is the jewel in the crown when it comes to studying technical theatre and stage management, so it’s great to be one of the few accepted on to the course.
