Southend Officers help save woman’s life

Pc Daryl Jones and Pc Sam Williams helped save a woman’s life after they were called to an incident in Southend.

On Saturday, January 27, Daryl and Sam were called to the top level of a car park following reports of a woman sitting in an unsafe location.

Our officers were concerned for the woman’s safety which was increasing with time due to the strong winds at the time of the incident. They were accompanied at the scene by a street ranger who was working alongside Sam to try to speak to the woman.

Sam managed to start up a conversation with the woman during this difficult situation. Whilst Sam spoke with the woman, Daryl approached the woman from behind and pulled her safely away from the ledge, putting his own life at risk in the process.

Sam and Daryl looked after the woman until our Mental Health Street Triage Team arrived.
