Women in Essex Police raise money for international women’s charity

Officers and staff from the Essex Police Women’s Leadership and Development Forum (WLDF) raised money for international women’s charity, Womankind.

WLDF members held a ‘Celebrate’ event on International Women’s day (March 8) at the Chelmsford City Racecourse to celebrate the achievements of women in the Emergency Services and wider public sector.

Officers and staff from all genders and all ranks attended the event alongside colleagues from Eastern region  police forces, colleagues from the NHS and colleagues from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service.

The WLDF team chose Womankind as its charity of choice for the event and throughout the day, attendees learnt more about the charity and offered donations to support its work. £100 was raised throughout the day and presented to a representative of Womankind on April 27 at the Essex Police HQ.

Chief Inspector Ronnie Egan said: “We chose this charity due to the great work Womankind does internationally to support women, protecting their’s and young girl’s rights to end violence suffered and take control of their own lives.”
